Arrive at destination
Because this is a two-hour journey, you have plenty of flexibility in your departure time, though planning for a morning start helps you avoid potential local traffic. Since there are zero official stops listed for this 116.9-mile trip, ensure your vehicle is fueled up before you hit the road to comfortably cover your $18 estimated fuel cost. Keep a close eye on your navigation, as the reliance on the Fruth-Lanham Highway and US 35 means you will be making several turns throughout the drive. Pack your own snacks and water since you won't be stopping at major rest areas along the way. Seasonal Notes
Summer travel usually means heavier construction, hotter rest stops, and busier weekend traffic around major cities.
Winter travel shortens daylight, so a route that looks manageable on paper can feel much longer after dark.
Holiday weekends tend to make both departure and arrival windows slower than the raw route time suggests.
Time zone
Origin and destination are on the same clock, so arrival timing is easier to judge at a glance.
Temperature spread
A meaningful temperature swing is a good cue to rethink layers, water, and how soon you want to arrive.
Road read
Use the two city cards together: check the sky where you start, then compare it with the local time and temperature at arrival.
Weather data from the National Weather Service. Conditions may change; check closer to your travel date.
Expect a turn-heavy local drive rather than a monotonous interstate grind, as this route maintains a zero-percent highway share. You will navigate through varied terrain where the road constantly demands your attention, offering a more hands-on experience behind the wheel. Because the journey relies on local connectors, the longest stretch you will encounter is zero miles on the Bartow Jones Bridge, meaning the road profile is consistently technical. This drive requires you to stay alert through the curves and shifts in road character. It is an ideal choice for those who enjoy a more engaged, winding pace over the predictability of a multi-lane highway.
This is a straightforward highway drive that stays mostly on I 64 and Fruth-Lanham Highway. There are only a few real navigation decisions along the way. The trickiest moment comes around 36.5 miles in near I 64.

Point Pleasant is a town of 4,637 people (as of 2000) in West Virginia. These days it's best-known for a series of mysterious paranormal occurrences that began in 1966. Starting on November 12th of that year, locals began to catch glimpses of an odd flying creature - people generally described it as a very large grey man-shaped creature, with giant wings and large red eyes - that pursued people and even killed their pets, apparently making its home in an abandoned TNT plant outside of town. The newspapers called it Mothman, and there were over 100 sightings of it during the next year. Then tragedy struck: on December 15, 1967, the 700-foot Silver Bridge between Point Pleasant and Ohio collapsed, killing 46 people. Following the collapse, sightings of the Mothman dropped off, leading some to hypothesize that the Mothman was a sort of harbinger of doom.
