Traveler Guide to Stamford, TX
Stamford is in the North Central Plains region of Texas.
This small town was more or less created out of the abundance of a Swedish landowner and supposedly the first Swedish immigrant to Texas named Swante Magnus Swenson who owned some 500,000 acres of ranchland in the area, still intact today. The town was named after Stamford, Connecticut and has long been in the cotton growing business, but during the 20th century also developed the Texas Cowboy Reunion, which Will Rogers even attended at one point. It is a wonderful small town with lovely residents who are welcoming and hardworking.
