Myrtle Point is said to be one of the best-preserved small towns in Southern Oregon. The town is at the southern end of the Coquille River Valley, about 25 miles inland from the city of Bandon along the Oregon coast. The historic downtown is accompanied by many traditional homes, with some being in mint condition and others in the process of renovation.

Myrtle Point's Logging Museum is one of the main attractions the town has to offer. It is full of all kinds of equipment and artifacts that were used in the old days of logging. The other main attraction in Myrtle Point is the annually held Coos County Fair and Rodeo. Events at the fair include the youth livestock auction, numerous games and rides for kids, the downtown parade, and most of all the rodeo, which offers a real country feel. One other spotlight of the city is its myrtlewood groves. Some of the largest myrtle trees can be viewed from within the city limits.
