The Reserve is one of the few remaining vernal pool habitats and native bunchgrass prairies in California and is a National Natural Landmark. Road 98 goes 21 mi (34 km) from Exit 541 of I-5 as CA-16, along the westside of Woodland, to I-80 as Pedrick Rd (exit 67).
