Highlands is a city in Orange County in New York state. It is home to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Highlands includes the villages of Fort Montgomery and Highlands Falls.

There's much to see at "The Point", a National Historic Landmark that is the oldest continuously-operated U.S military installation and the alma mater of many prominent U.S. Army officers from George Custer and Ulysses S. Grant to Dwight Eisenhower, George Patton, Douglas MacArthur, Norman Schwarzkopf (1950s) and David Petraeus (1970s). The academy maintains one of the world's largest military museums, with many exhibits and battle dioramas. On campus there are the magnificent stone Gothic buildings, spectacular views of the river and surrounding mountains of the Hudson Highlands, and the military pageantry of the cadets, the "Long Gray Line" who will follow in the footsteps of their distinguished predecessors. Visitors may enter the academy grounds only by guided tours, however, there are no guided tours during Graduation Week, on Football Days or when the Visitor center is closed.
