Expect to spend approximately $30 on fuel to bridge these two Midwestern hubs. You will navigate a mix of local thoroughfares, including West Main Street, US23, and South High Street, rather than relying on a high-speed interstate corridor. It is a straightforward trek that works well for a weekend excursion or a direct trip between these regions.

Arrive at destination
Given the 3-hour and 15-minute duration, you have plenty of flexibility to plan your departure around your personal schedule. With only one recommended stop, you can easily manage the trip without needing an elaborate itinerary or multiple rest breaks. Keep your $30 fuel budget in mind as you plan your stops, ensuring you fill up at convenient intervals along the local roads. Since this route relies on local streets rather than major interstates, stay alert for changing speed limits and residential traffic zones. A pro tip for this specific drive is to familiarize yourself with the turns on South High Street and US23 before you head out, as the local nature of the route makes navigation more involved than a standard highway trek.

Seasonal Notes
Summer travel usually means heavier construction, hotter rest stops, and busier weekend traffic around major cities.
Winter travel shortens daylight, so a route that looks manageable on paper can feel much longer after dark.
Holiday weekends tend to make both departure and arrival windows slower than the raw route time suggests.
Time zone
Origin and destination are on the same clock, so arrival timing is easier to judge at a glance.
Temperature spread
A meaningful temperature swing is a good cue to rethink layers, water, and how soon you want to arrive.
Road read
Use the two city cards together: check the sky where you start, then compare it with the local time and temperature at arrival.

Worth a detour if your schedule allows.
