Traveler Guide to Mount Sinai, NY

Mt. Sinai is a small town on the east coast of Long Island in New York, bordering the north shore of the Long Island Sound.

The first inhabitants of Mt. Sinai were the Native Americans, followed by colonial settlers. New home construction began later. In the early 1960s, the suburbanization of the once vast farmland increased. Many people migrated east to escape the “city life” and retreat to a quiet, family-oriented suburban area. In the 21st century, the development of Mt. Sinai has been aimed at building private communities and classic housing developments, such as Island Estates, the Orchards, the Ranches and the Hamlet. Each development has different amenities, appealing to different age groups, hobbies and social classes.

In this small Long Island town there aren't endless options of entertainment. The main attractions are Cedar Beach, which is open to all residents of the town of Brookhaven. The only requirement for entry is a legitimate form of identification. Mt. Sinai harbor is at the tip of Cedar beach. Here locals dock their boats and can easily travel to Connecticut, across the Long Island Sound. Within walking distance of the entrance to the beach itself is a park for small children, a snack bar and outdoor restaurants for everyone. Some of the other activities Mt.
