Lebanon, a business district along Washington Road in the northern part of the township, is one of the more prominent business districts in the area outside of Pittsburgh itself.
1 Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, 509 Washington Road (just north of the Mt. Lebanon "T" Station). A huge cemetery (almost 25,000 people are buried here) with a very park-like atmosphere. A huge catholic church - be sure to step inside and look up at the intricately decorated ceiling and the beautiful stained glass windows.
Pizzaiolo, 703 Washington Road. The food is always fantastic, punctuated by Nepoletana pizza from a woodfired brick oven, homemade desserts, and a classy winebar serving over 200 Italian wines.
By car, the quickest way from Downtown Pittsburgh is to take the Liberty Tunnel and Liberty Avenue south until it becomes Washington Road (U.S. Route 19) upon entering Mt. Lebanon. The “PRT”, or Pittsburgh Regional Transit, provides public transit access from Pittsburgh to Mt. Lebanon - including the trolley or "T" as locals refer to it-!light rail service. The RED LINE rail will take you from Downtown through the small suburbs of Dormont and Brookline to Mt. Lebanon station, which will put you directly in Uptown Mt. Lebanon.
