East Wenatchee is a city of 14,000 (2020) in the Columbia River Plateau of Washington State. It sits on the east shore of the Columbia River, opposite of the larger city of Wenatchee. (See its separate article for detailed listings on the west bank of the Columbia River.)
There are many orchards surrounding East Wenatchee. Commercial crops primarily include apples, sweet cherries and pears. Apricots, peaches, nectarines, and plums are also grown. Wheat and other grain are also grown on farms in the outlying areas near East Wenatchee.
Apple Capital Loop Trail. Walk along the Columbia River waterfront of Wenatchee and East Wenatchee 1 Lincoln Rock State Park, 91 Lincoln Rock Park Rd. The park is 85 acres (34 hectares) and is named for a rock formation across the river that vaguely resembles President Abraham Lincoln. It offers water access to Lake Entiat, including fishing, boating, and swimming, in addition to facilities for picnicking, camping, hiking, and field sports. Discover Pass required. & passes across the river from Wenatchee north of the town, and along the east side of the Columbia River from Orondo, 17.5 mi (28.2 km) north. US-2 continues (51 mi (82 km)) east towards Coulee City from Hwy 97 in Orondo. US-97 continues 26 mi (42 km) north to Chelan from its junction with US Hwy 2 in Orondo. WA-28 connects to Quincy and Ephrata from the south end of town. WA-285 crosses the river to connect with SR-28 as Stevens St. Link Transit, ☏ +1 509-662-1155. Offers local bus service, service to Wenatchee and intercity services to Ardenvoir (Rt #26); Chelan (#21); Leavenworth (#22); Manson (#21); Rock Island (#23); Cashmere (#22 & 28), etc. $1 one zone (local); $2.50 two zones ('intercity').
