Dayton is a city of 2,400 people (2019) in the Palouse region of eastern Washington. It is the county seat of Columbia County. It has an historic depot, historic courthouse, and Main Street, that are part of a National Historic District.

Built in 1881, it is the oldest surviving train depot in the state. $3/adult, children 12 and under are free. 2 Lewis and Clark Trail State Park, 36149 Highway 12 (7 mi (11 km) southwest of Dayton, at US-12 & Timpley Rd), ☏ +1 509-337-6457, [email protected]. A 37-acre camping park. Discover Pass required ($10/day, $30/year). 3 Palouse Falls, ☏ +1 509 646-9218. A 200 ft (61 m) waterfall, the largest such feature in Eastern Washington.
