1 Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge (13 mi (21 km) southeast), ☏ +1 509-684-8384. Wildlife found in the refuge include numerous songbirds, bald eagles, elk, black bears, timber wolves, cougars, moose, beavers, and white-tailed deer. Public uses include hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and horseback riding. A ski resort on Chewelah Mountain, in the far northeast of Washington, near the borders with Idaho and British Columbia. The base is at 3,923 ft (1,196 m) with the summit at 5,774 ft (1,760 m). There are numerous campgrounds and RV parks close to Colville and several campgrounds along the Columbia River in the Lake Roosevelt National Recreational Area, which is not too far away. There are also campgrounds in the Colville National Forest.

Colville surrounds the intersection of US-395 and WA-20: US Highway 395 (US-395) heads north to Kettle Falls and south to Spokane. State Route 20 (WA-20) heads generally east through the hills towards Tiger, going through part of the Colville National Forest. Arriving by private vehicle or bike is easiest and most convenient.

The main business district is only a few blocks long, so park your car and walk. Lots of easy parking is available just off Main St.
