Collingswood is well known for its selection of shops and restaurants primarily along Haddon Avenue and was ranked as the "#1 small-town food scene in America" by USA Today in May 2018.

Collingswood is an inner-ring suburb of Philadelphia. It is a middle class community made of a mix of white and blue collar workers, and has experienced a renaissance because of its proximity to Philadelphia.

There are no hotels in Collingswood, however the Crowne Plaza is a luxury hotel located just across Cooper River in Cherry Hill.

The PATCO high-speed commuter rail line has a stop at Collingswood Station. This train connects to Philadelphia, Lindenwold, Camden, and Haddonfield. The train is a very fast and easy commute option, which is twenty four hours a day and seven days a week! The fare for the PATCO rail line ranges from $1.25 to $2.70, for one way tickets. However, for round trips the ticket price ranges from $2.50 to $5.40. These are very affordable prices! 1 Collingswood railway station, 864 South Atlantic Ave. (updated Nov 2020) Route 70 runs just north of Collingswood, and has two bridges across Cooper River. Route 70 then becomes Admiral Wilson Blvd, which runs directly across the Ben Franklin Bridge into Center City, Philadelphia. Various buses run from Collingswood into Camden and Philadelphia, with most stops being on Haddon Avenue.

While Collingswood is generally safe, it does border Camden to the west. Certain areas of Collingswood that are near Route 130 are particularly dangerous, especially those west of it. The area west of the White Horse Pike is generally safe during the day, but it should be avoided at night. Most areas around downtown on Haddon Avenue, and Knights Park are very secure.
