1 Charlotte Center Historic District. The historic 19th-century town center stretches along Church Hill Road west of Hinesburg Road. It retains a well-preserved 19th-century atmosphere of residential, civic, and commercial buildings. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. (updated Feb 2026) 2 Charlotte Congregational Church, 403 Church Hill Road. Constructed between 1849 and 1851. A Greek Revival church. (updated Feb 2026)
1 Mount Philo State Park, 5425 Mt Philo Rd, ☏ +1 802 425-2390. Friday of Memorial Day Weekend through the second Monday in October. Hike or drive to the top of Mt. Philo for views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks. 7 tent sites, 3 lean-to sites. From June to August 2026, facilities at the summit of Mt. Philo will undergo improvements focused on accessibility, sustainability, and visitor services. Heavy machines will be moving materials up and down the mountain, including at the summit. U.S. Route 7 runs north–south through the town. Vermont Route F-5 runs east–west from US Route 7 in West Charlotte to the Charlotte-Essex ferry dock. Hourly ferry service between Essex, New York and Charlotte is provided by the Lake Champlain Transportation Company. Most years in the past decade, the ferry service has run year-round, with the exception of a few days of winter rough or ice-filled lake surface. A commuter bus, operating morning and evening, stops on US Route 7 at Ferry Road for transport to and from Burlington. Amtrak's Ethan Allen Express train stops at Vergennes, 11 miles to the south.
